Soil Testing -
ATTERBERG'S LIMIT (LIQUID LIMIT & PLASTIC LIMIT) :
This is a method of determination of plasticity index of soil by liquid limit and plastic limit. This test is conducted as per IS: 2720 (Pt.5)
SIEVE ANALYSIS (DRY SET / WET SET) :
This is a method of determination of percentage of various particles in soil by mass like gravel, sand Silt & clay and to plot grain size distribution curve . This test is conducted as per IS: 2720 (Pt.4)
STANDARD PROCTOR TEST :
This test is conducted to determine the relationship between moisture Content & Density, Sand to find out OMC & MDD of soil ,gravel as per IS 2720 (Part 7) by light Compaction
MODIFIER PROCTOR TEST :
This test is conducted to determine the relationship between moisture Content & Density ,and to find out OMC & MDD of soil ,gravel as per IS 2720 (part 8) by heavy compaction.
C. B. R. TEST :
This test is performed in laboratory as per IS 2720(Part 16). The bearing ratio test also called California Bearing Ratio Test is used for the evaluation of the strengths of sub grades and bases roads and subway pavements for design of crust thickness. Soaked & unsoked both types of C.B.R are performed in Laboratory.
NATURAL MOISTURE CONTENT :
This test is performed for determination of water content in soils. This can be performed using either of the methods i.e. Oven dried method ,Infra red moisture meter methods & Rapid Moisture Meter as per IS:2720(Part 2)
CLASSIFICATION OF SOIL (AS PER IS 1498) :
This test is conducted as per IS:1498(1970). Classification and identification of soil for general engineering purpose. Classification is done to evaluate the soil as regards its bearing power to a certain extent by finding the engineering group of the soil & to estimate the safe bearing capacity as per National Building Code for India.
DIRECT SHEAR TEST :
TThis test is performed as per IS:2720(Part 13). This test is used to determine the shear strength and angle of shear resistance (C & ) of soils. Both drainedf & undrained type of test conducted on undisturbed sample or on disturbed sample remoulded on field condition under soaked and unsoaked condition.
